Put A Tiger In Your Tank by RoadTripDog Put A Tiger In Your Tank by RoadTripDog
Since I'm on animals but wanting to get away from reptiles, here's a 1967 GTO with a tiger in its tank, and I'll bet that tiger is getting rather angry by now!

This was a common sight in the mid 1960's. A major oil company was using the slogan "Put a tiger in your tank" just about the time Pontiac brought out the GTO, and the two were just made for each other.

Confession: I put a tiger tail on my 1964 LeMans. I did a lot of stupid stuff when I was young. Now I'm old - and I still do a lot of stupid stuff. Well, at least I'm consistent!

Awesome. I'd forgotten all about that tiger-tail thing.

Better a tiger than Jimmy Hoffa's body. LOL.

Yeah the extra weight of the body wouldn't help in the quarter mile.
8-)

At least it's not fuzzy dice. I have to admit to doing that one for a month or two on my '72 Chevy Impala Convertible.

I have a set of fuzzy dice hanging from the end of my computer desk. Someone gave them to me and I don't have the courage to put them in my Jeep Cherokee.

Oh h.
More or less I see that the slogan was the same in USA (Exxon) as here in Italy (Esso - here we had "metti un tigre nel motore - put a tiger in the engine) ... it's nice to know !!!

It was Exxon (or one of its US variations) here, so it must have been a worldwide advertising campaign. Around the same time, the Uniroyal tire company came out with its "Tiger Paws" tires which were popular on muscle cars. Pontiac also took advantage and had some advertising photos with a tiger on top of a GTO.

All this confuses me because cats don't drive cars - or do they?[link]
