On The Turntable In 1955: 'It's a Great Life (If You Don't Weaken)' - Faron Young

Here's a car that proves my belief that some of the best cars are found in the parking lots outside car shows. I found this daily driver 1955 Plymouth Belvedere four door sedan sitting out front of a car show and I immediately started taking photos. While it isn't one of the more exciting cars in terms of performance, most of you know I love almost anything Mopar, and better yet my grandfather had this exact color scheme but on a 1955 Dodge Coronet.

Grandpa had custom ordered the car and they had gone to the factory to see the final assembly and pick up their car. This was something that people would do back then. He had checked the V8 box on the order form and I remember Grandpa pulling into the passing lane on Route 66 and the car quickly picking up speed. It was only a 270 cubic inch V8 with 175 horsepower but that was a lot better than the old flathead six that was standard. So old Grandpa had a need for speed too - something I must have inherited from Grandpa! It truly is a great life if you don't weaken!
