On The Phonograph Player In 1931: 'Memories of You' - Duke Ellington
Ah, sweet memories . . .

Famous Quote of 1931: "Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make." - Bela Lugosi, in 'Dracula'
Although my personal favorite quote from that movie is early on when ol' Drac introduces himself to Jonathan Harker by saying "I . . . am Dracula" with that frightening stare.
Chilling.

Hard to believe the movies Frankenstein and Dracula were new when this car was built at the Ford factory. And somewhere along the way this 1931 Ford Model A Victoria has been changed in a few ways. First of all, it's not black. Then we see that the wheels were not as Henry would have supplied. Sweetie and I also sense that under the Victoria's shapely exterior there are a number of modern powertrain components.

At the thought of those powertrain improvements Sweetie is shivering with excitement just like she does when Dracula makes his entrance in the 1931 movie, and I put my arm around her to help her feel safe. Of course, if the real Dracula had been there, it is doubtful that anything I could do would help much. But hey, it's just a movie . . . isn't it? Sweetie, what are those two marks on your neck? Sweetie? Why are you looking at me with mooneyes like that? Why are you biting my neck???

Oddly enough, my understanding (because I never actually took one apart ...yet) is that a lot of these old cars actually had a good portion of them made from wood. As in the structure of it was part wood.

Funny thing is whenever you mention a song with a picture now, whether I know the song or not, I go to youtube and try to find the song and play it while I look at the picture. Couldn't find the Duke Ellington version but I found this [link]

1931.
My aunt was one year old, and her baby brother, my father, wasn't even a twinkle in my grandfather's eye yet! heh

My dad used to tell me stories of how my great grandfather and grandfather, when he was a young man, and how when they bought a new car that didn't have a space for a spare tire. So my great grandfather and he got out some tools and cut a hole in a sidewall fender and sat up a tire in the hole. Later the same design was seen used to store the spare tire in production cars.
My dad was of the opinion that my grandfather was just spinning a yarn, which he was apt to do. But then sometimes, when you called his bluff, you found out different.
